The tallest glass jar I’d ever seen
sat near a window in Gran’s sewing room.
filled with buttons from family old clothes…
brass buttons, glass buttons, lace buttons;
buttons guised as roses, apples and angels.

One of our regular customers is a member of the The Greater Ann Arbor Quilt Guild. She makes gorgeous quilts—occasionally even using fabrics she finds at The Scrap Box.

Many generous folks donate fabric scraps and samples they no longer have a use for, and others find great treasures at bargain prices.

It’s wonderful how people can make beautiful and useful things from those materials which are too lovely to send to a landfill.

Our friend brought in a wall-hanging she was working on. She had cut squares and circles from felted wool then blanket-stitched them in a grid over a dark background. In the center of each colored applique she featured a pretty button.

Isn’t this a nice way to display all those buttons you’ve been collecting all these years?
