Sean Hages shops at The Scrap Box because we have unusual materials at very reasonable prices. One of his favorite scraps is the hot air balloon fabric which Cameron Balloon
donates to us.
Last spring, Sean installed an exhibit in Hart Plaza called “Wild Aesthetic” inspired by the endemic flora of Socotra Island—gorgeous lighted and moving giant rip-stop nylon sculptures.
Sean is an interdisciplinary artist. He juxtaposes innovative materials with traditional themes to explore new artistic possibilities. Through art, Sean attempts to reveal a percieved “fundamental greatness in all things” to others. Constantly striving to broaden his artistic horizons Sean seeks truth and beauty wherever life may take him.
This past spring Sean participated in Camp Detroit—a program which gave Detroit artists, makers, and thinkers the opportunity to create beautiful and inspired projects displayed at Movement Electronic Music Festival in June 2011.
